Scouring the Craiglist employment section for the 777th time, I came across a most interesting ad:

Back then, and even still today, marketing your services online as an escort is a complex symphony that can suddenly turn into a confusing mess in record time.

I probably built, updated, and touched hundreds of thousands of escort directory ads during my Eros stint.
In addition to doing my regular design and production job there, I was also given the extra bonus of training all the new design employees. That meant I had to understand even the smallest detail regarding your ad. I was expected to train people how to build them, so obviously I needed to understand them better than anyone else.
It also gave me a lot of invaluable practice teaching, so there are no regrets about carrying that extra weight.
During this time I studied everything I could when it came to escort advertising. I compared our site to other directories, became a master at detecting fake photos, but most importantly, I started comparing the ads to one another.
… And, what I found was nothing short of riveting!
One of the things that popped out at me right away was the vast difference in the look and feel of a VIP’s ad verses the ad of a common entertainer.
The thing that always struck me as odd was that half of the time the VIP wouldn’t be able to hold a flame to the natural good looks of the common escort, yet the VIP was always able to ask for a MUCH higher hourly rate.
… And, from the looks of her expensive photography and designer lingerie… she was getting it!

I discovered the reason the VIP was able to charge a much higher fee for her time wasn’t because she was born with some magical VIP gene. It was simply because she understood how to successfully market her services as a luxury to the rich.
